5 Reasons You NEED an Engagement Shoot
If you're recently engaged, you've probably started the fun and arduous task of planning and making wedding decisions. One of those tasks is choosing a photographer and deciding on the package you want. Most photographers have the option of including engagement shoots in their packages. And whilst I'm sure everyone around you has given you their opinion of what you need, here are my 5 top tips why you need an engagement shoot.
1. Get Comfortable in Front of the Camera
I'm sure you've heard this one before, but it really is the most important reason for an engagement shoot. You don't want to get your wedding photos back and realise you look uncomfortable and awkward in every photo. These sessions are designed to reduce any anxiety about the photos for the big day and allows me to capture your true personalities.
2. Get to Know Your Photographer
Just as important as the first reason, this is a big one. There are so many photographers out there who work completely different from one another, and it's just as important for you to get to know them. You want to feel at ease with them, as they usually spend most of the wedding day with you. The engagement shoots are a great way for couples to see if their personalities and photography styles match. If during the session you're laughing and cracking jokes, you're onto a winner :)
3. Combine a Hair and Makeup Trial
If you're going to the effort of a hair and makeup trial, why not combine it with an engagement shoot? This is a great way to see how your hair and makeup will look on camera and to fix any concerns you might have. It would be a shame to waste it, right?
4. Use the Photos for Invites
Another great reason to have an engagement shoot is to use your photos for your wedding invites. You can easily create some amazing invitations online using these photos, which will be unique to you! Many couples even display their engagement photos at their wedding receptions, which is an easy DIY decoration and one that family and friends love to see.
5. Have a Whole Lot of Fun
You may think that an engagement shoot has to be you and your partner strolling along the beach holding hands. But this isn't the case. Engagement shoots are meant to show your true personalities and who you both are together. So if you never go to the beach, but love going to Timezone and beating your partner - then let's do that! I want my couples to be themselves and feel comfortable with me, and most importantly.... HAVE FUN.
At the end of the day, the decision to have an engagement shoot or not is totally up to you. I always recommend them to my couples as I believe they are 100% worth it. And it's always great for me to get to know you both better to tell your story unique to you.
