Jordan - Family & Maternity Session Port Stephens

Time seems to have flown incredibly fast. It seems like only yesterday that I was photographing Jordan's first maternity session with her little boy Wilder. I feel like every time I see him I feel the strong urge to bonsai him... can you please stop growing so quickly!

Jordan, Lewis, and Wilder travelled from the small town of Gulgong near Mudgee for their maternity and family session. It might be because they longed for some beachside photos, or perhaps because they are some of my closest friends. Either way, I was thrilled to capture this family again.

Donning beautiful 'Analogus' and neutral tones, the Wolthers family and I trecked out along the sand dunes at Anna Bay. Wilder was so happy to run and throw sand at every opportunity, whilst mum and dad chased him around. Kids have such a great method of creating authentic images. Their impulsivity is what makes family photography sessions so much fun.

We were so eager to create some magic, we didn't realise the black storm clouds rolling in behind us. Quick to capture what we could, we compressed our session into about 10 minutes before the rain hit us. It's amazing how the pressure of time can really push your creative limits and give you something incredible.

Because we only got a 10-minute session in, we woke up bright and early the next morning to get a few more shots in of just Mum. And what do you think happened? We got 10 minutes of shooting in before the mozzies nearly ate us alive and the rain hit again. Lucky I can work fast. This is what we created:
